Students were evacuated from the LRC at Worcester State University on Friday, March 6 at approximately 11:39 a.m.

According to an email released to WSU students and staff at 12:45 p.m., graffiti was discovered in the LRC this morning that indicated a public safety threat. A police presence was noticed on-campus by WSU students as early as 11 a.m., almost 40 minutes before the first RAVE alert was issued.

Students and faculty were notified by a RAVE text and email to evacuate the LRC so detectives could investigate. All classes scheduled to meet today in the LRC have been cancelled.

Abel Batista, a WSU student, commented on the abrupt evacuation.

“Police began showing up, but they didn’t really tell us what was going on,” Abel said. “Then a man came into our classroom and told us to get out.”
