Blah Blah Blombach: Deplorable and Proud

It must be a sign of the times. An election of such enormous magnitude has become a battle for the dubious distinction of being the least disliked and dishonest, an election of the two most deceitful and detested pair of budding political wannabes in the history of the world.

At a time when there is so much at risk, we have to choose between a pair of sneaky and  underhanded political jesters. Essentially, we must pick the one who is the least unacceptable.

Who is the least unacceptable? Hillary Clinton called out Republican rival Donald Trump, speaking disgracefully of his supporters, describing them as a “basket of deplorables.” These voters that Clinton referred to as “basket cases” are now embracing the name with pride. The shameful supporters are wearing the ugly insult as a badge of honor.

The country’s most rapacious entrepreneurs have jumped on the bandwagon. Their complete line of apparel is dedicated to the caption, “Proud to be Deplorable.”  They are marketing everything: tee shirts, baseball caps, bumper stickers, and monogrammed cigarette lighters. These novelty products are bought up as fast as they’re produced to meet the demand of the dedicated followers of The Donald.

According to the Huffington Post, the Democratic Presidential nominee went on to declare that apparently half of Trump supporters are “racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic, and you name it.” Just add the finishing touch of “global warming denial,” and the basket of indignities is complete. A textbook collection of Pelosi’s “newest” seven deadly sins.

We have always worked hard and tried to pay our fair share. We love America and are now deplorable. If you love America, God, family, the Constitution, are a patriot, a person of faith, a successful businessman or woman, or just a working male or female, you’ve been added to Hillary’s list.

We could be proud to be a member of Trump’s band of deplorables or perhaps even a symbol of everything that is wrong with Hillary’s vision of America. But, deplorable we are not. The only basket of deplorables in this election are the two candidates.  Will it be “never Trump” or never Hillary?
